Amputation

One of Sonia’s passions is helping her clients with amputation regain their fitness post surgery, learn how to walk with their new prosthetic, and assist those who’ve had updates or changes to their prosthesis. Sonia has established relationships with Albury Prosthetics & Orthotics and Canberra’s Momentum Prosthetics. Balance & Falls

Are you fearful of falling? Have you noticed that your balance is not what it used to be?

Sonia’s skilled physiotherapy assessment can identify the cause of your falls – and, once identified, improvements can be made with proper treatment. Screening for other risk factors that may be contributing to your falls can help determine whether further investigations are required.

Evidence-based physiotherapy intervention and gentle, functional exercise can help restore your ability to participate in exercise and activity and reduce the risk of falls.

Fear of falling is a significant contributor — building your confidence back up so you can return to activities you love is so important. Education addresses Falls Prevention, Fall Recovery strategies, and specific exercise to improve flexibility, balance, and coordination.

Vertigo & Dizziness

Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialised form of therapy that can alleviate vertigo and dizziness and help improve overall health and function. A thorough vestibular assessment, and proper treatment, can often bring relief.

Vestibular rehabilitation can be effective in improving:

  • Vertigo / Dizziness

  • Visual disturbance

  • Imbalance, Veering, or Staggering

  • Nausea and/or vomiting with dizziness/vertigo

  • Reduced concentration / fatigue

These symptoms can diminish quality of life and impact all aspects of daily living. One of the consequences of vestibular dysfunction is that you may be limiting your daily activity to avoid worsening your symptoms. As a result, you may have decreased muscle strength and flexibility, increased joint stiffness, and reduced stamina. Skilled, effective vestibular rehab can significantly improve your quality of life!

Musculoskeletal

Musculoskeletal rehab starts with skilful assessment to target the root of dysfunction. Once identified, treatment often consists of hands-on techniques and manual therapy to treat restrictions. Therapeutic and corrective exercise focused on your rehab goals, and often integrating physiotherapy with the Pilates method to progress your abilities. Education addresses postural alignment, biomechanics in daily life, and home exercises to optimise gains.
